Waitakere WEA/WEST is an independent, not for profit organisation with a long history of involvement in the west Auckland community. Our 2015 focus on economic wellbeing, allows us to provide quality community education courses targeted around building individual’s readiness for employment, and to provide support for micro and small businesses to develop and grow.

We have a manager, two administration staff, plus a variety of specialist contractors and tutors.

We are an Incorporated Society governed by a Committee with skills and experience in  training, employment and economic development. We are located in a building in central Henderson, owned and operated by the organisation.

Over 500 people annually attend our programmes, at locations across north west Auckland.  We also have other community groups and businesses who use Gilmour House for their services and programmes.

Advice to Stakeholders: WEA/ WEST

Thank you for your support of WEA and our work in the West Auckland community.  WEA has been serving this community since 1976 delivering quality adult community education and more recently facilitating community development initiatives and networks.

At WEA/WEST, we believe that a community can thrive when the individuals and businesses have enough money and resources to achieve economic wellbeing.   We will continue to provide quality community education courses but our courses will be targeted around building individual’s readiness for employment and providing support for micro and small businesses to develop and grow.

WEA/WEST has always believed that effective community development comes out of strong collaborative relationships.  WEST will continue this focus, exploring new networks and enabling new community initiatives that support the North West of Auckland.
