Waitakere Learning Plan - 2007

VISION STATEMENT

“Waitakere is a place that values and provides outstanding educational opportunities and fosters lifelong learning.”

The development of the Waitakere City Education and Learning Plan is in phase two of the development phase - (phase one being sector and community consultation).

Significant sector and community consultation was completed at the end of 2007 and following are SECTOR documents which pull together a range of information in the following format:

  • a snapshot of the current sector, as at the end of 2007
  • data around specified indicators, specific to each individual sector
  • a discussion around those indicators
  • "What works" - a section dedicated to some examples of activities/actions that the sector/community identified as currently working well
  • Suggested Actions/ Partners - the sector/community's feedback on some possible actions and possible partners to those actions.

This data is currently (as at May 2008) being analysed and structured into key priorities.  At the end of this process, further consultation will occur, before defining an action plan.  A "state of play" report will be produced which aims to provide a current birds-eye view of what Education and Learning Provision looks like at 2008, in Waitakere City.

From this report, we will be in a position to draft the Strategic Education & Learning Plan (forcasting out 20 years) to enable the City to develop new (and support current) innovative initiatives that will see Waitakere successfully develop into a City that values and provides outstanding educational opportunities and fosters life-long learning.
