Students at Henderson High School are gearing up for their annual production.
High School Musical begins on the 22nd at 7.30pm and finishes on Saturday.
It is based on the Disney movie and is considered a modern day version of Grease.
The story incorporates many of the things that teenagers relate to, faculty head Jason Gooding says - "mobile phones, fashion, cliques."
Mr Gooding says bringing the popular show to the stage has been a challenge.
But he is no stranger to hard work and has helped with shows like Les Miserables, Miss Saigon and Beauty and the Beast.
"To be the first school in west Auckland to do it is quite an achievement," he says.
Mr Gooding says a number of businesses sponsored the show and professional musicians have given their time to take part.
Parents have also been supportive, he says.
"It's apt to be doing this show as it is about people pulling together."
