Dainty touch: A Tirimoana student plays the harp.
By Rani Timoti
More kids will be making music at Tirimoana Primary School in 2008.
Principal Peter Kaiser says parents are keen to see the popular subject expanded.
"Next year music will be a major emphasis and we've been recruiting teachers who are strong in this area," he says.
The school already provides music tutoring and has a school orchestra.
Members have just performed their annual instrumental recital for their peers.
Mr Kaiser says months of practise goes into the exercise.
"The children are outstanding and the amount of effort which goes into their performance is amazing," he says. "Our 580 kids are mesmerised by them."
