Kelston Primary School is getting a helping hand from Westpac.

The low-decile school is one of six in Auckland to sign a partnership agreement with the bank.

The deal is part of the Building Better Schools initiative run under the non-profit organisation, the Committee for Auckland.

The scheme is designed to strengthen the relationship between low decile schools, businesses and communities and thereby improve school performance.

Westpac spokeswoman Yvonne Wright, says the bank will help the school with strategic planning and management, along with support with practical projects like fundraising.

"The skills sets of those who run Westpac branches can be transferred very naturally to the education sector and bank staff are really looking forward to being involved with Kelston school," she says.
