Henderson Intermediate student bound for space

By LEANNE WARR

Stargazer Brandon Wyatt can't wait for July.

The Henderson Intermediate student is set to be winging his way to Alabama in the United States to take part in Space Camp, a special event for youngsters with ambitions to explore the Milky Way.

Brandon, 12, became interested in space when he was given a book at age five.

He has also found a television channel entirely devoted to the subject and tunes in whenever mum Kerryn lets him.

Brandon hopes to work for Nasa as an astronaut, scientist or even building rocket ships.

"I want to have something to do with space," he says.

Brandon heard about the eight-day Space Camp through an aunt  and found out more on the internet.

His mum has paid the fees and he is trying to to raise money to pay her back.

He made $250 through a recent sausage sizzle and is also offering his services as a dog walker.

Camp participants enjoy a variety of activities and are taught a range of team-building skills.

They will also try out space flight simulators.
