Cheerleading is fast becoming a popular sport in New Zealand
The girls at Glen Eden Intermediate are among those leading the way and have just come first in the Auckland intermediate schools dance competition.
The team of 24 also won the level one and two divisions of the New Zealand cheer and dance invitationals.
Teacher Tamryn Nicholson says it is the first year the girls have worked together.
"They have a fantastic attitude," she says. "They give 100 percent all the time."
Ms Nicholson says cheerleading requires a range of skills.
Competitors are expected to do a variety of tricky lifts and jumps.
Some of the girls have already represented New Zealand in the United States and Australia.
"We have a few top level cheerleaders," she says.
