A weed-infested corner of Laingholm is being targeted as part of a new environmental project.
Pupils at Laingholm Primary School have made a series of signs to be put up on the site - urging members of the public to be more careful when disposing of lawn clippings and prunings.
The corner of Victory Rd and Warner Park Ave is often used as a dumping spot and is now home to a variety of weeds.
All could cause problems if they spread into the bush.
The school is working with the Weedfree Wai-takere Trust to raise public awareness of the issue.
Teacher Heather Walsh says four pupils did a mini-survey of the area last year and discovered up to 20 types of weeds.
Trust spokesman Neil Henderson supports the initiative and is pleased to see the children getting involved.
"It's good to see people taking ownership of the problem," he says.
