Pupils at Prospect School in Glen Eden are eating and living healthier than ever.

The students are adjusting to a new lunch menu and learning about hygiene as part of a new Education Ministry scheme to promote health and nutrition.

The scheme was launched during an expo where participants also had the chance to try a range of sports and other physical activities.

Principal Gay Turner says the dietary changes seem to be going down well.

"I think they're pretty positive about it,"  she says.

"We're seeing kids come along with sushi which we would never have seen some time ago. We're making sure we're giving students healthy choices.
