Drawing together: Arohanui Special School student Ryan Bailes and Spacifix musician Tonga Vaea.

Singer Isi Filisione is a bit of a hero at the Arohanui Special School in Te Atatu.
Isi, a vocalist with the well known group Spacifix, used to be a teacher aide at the school.
He returned last week with bandmates Tonga Vaea and Metui Finau.
All three joined the pupils decorating squares of fabric with sunflowers that will be sewn into a quilt to be gifted to the United Nations at Aotea Square on December 2 between 10am and noon.
The project is part of an Auckland-wide campaign raising awareness about people with disabilities.
Isi was happy to help.
"I've always wanted to come back and see the kids," he says. "They're so happy and they remember me."
